Mr. Shyam works as a Group Captain in the Indian Army. It took him years to reach that position and his choice of careers had made him get an army accommodation, an orderly, a car and all the privileges in sync with his new promotion. He enjoyed every bit of it. There was just one thing that he needed to get sorted out. Shyam had a mentally challenged child who at present went to a special school. The principal and counselors were happy with her progress and felt if she continued to cooperate with the psychologists and special educators, there were chances of her improving 25% and the more she did she could even outgrow her condition because it was not chronic. Since the parents put Rajni into special school, the special educators felt the parents had made a wise choice and that in all probability Rajni showed signs of a ¾ recovery. Now with Shyam’s promotion and transfer order, he just didn’t know where to put Rajni. Where would he find a special school with an early Intervention centre? even if he did, would the child be able to adjust to her new teachers? What if she showed signs of repulsion? Would his wife also have to stay back with the child so that she could continue to attend the same school? His mind was full of disturbances. One promotion and transfer no doubt brought with it immense happiness but it had also stirred up a Hornets nest. Thankfully the principal said after two months Rajni could actually join a normal school. This made Mr. Shyam so happy that everything fell into place. His wife would stay back with their child for another two months before they both shifted to where he was posted. In the meanwhile, Mr. Shyamal would put his daughter into a play school, so that she got used to the normal kid’s and would then put her in a normal school, the next academic year. This way there would be no jerks in her education and the transition from a special school to a normal one would be smooth and manageable.
